Letter From The President
Hello Members:
We are excited to start a new Peace Haven Civic Association summer season. I’m writing on behalf of the Board to share some important information and give an update to what has been going on.
During the off season, we have:
- Installed new roofs on all four building structures
- Resurfaced both the main pool and baby pool with new tile, new plaster, and drain covers
- Our lap lanes tiling received an upgrade by widening the lap lane markings as well as enlarging the turn cross on both ends
- Upgraded the pump room plumbing to assist with pump functionality
- Replaced, reworked, and upgraded the entire deck drain system
- Resurfaced the entire pool deck as well as adding a custom logo design at the entry gate
- Purchased some new tables and chairs
- Pressure washed the retaining wall and cleaned all furniture prior to opening day.
- Completed reinforcement work along the creek bank and driveway behind the shelter
- Broke away from pool management companies to manage the pool ourselves. We have hired a total of 38 employees, including a pool manager, lifeguards, swim coaches, greeters, and snack shack attendants!
We truly can’t wait for you to see how amazing our facilities currently look. As we mentioned at the end of last season, the board strongly felt that these capital improvements were not only necessary but also a way to set us up for long-term success moving forward.
Pool Hours
The pool will open on Sat, May 25, 2024 for all members. Hours for opening weekend and for the first two weeks, while public school is still in session, will vary. We also plan to stay open, with limited hours, through the entire month of September. Please check the website for the most up-to-date hours. https://peacehavenpool.com/hours/
Check-In Window & Snack Shack
This year, we will staff a greeter in the front window to assist with check-ins and guest passes. Please make sure to stop by the window upon your arrival to be checked in.
We also plan to make some important changes to the snack shack functionality in order to prevent incorrect charges from being placed on people’s accounts. Once the pool opens, the snack shack will have two key tags for each family. If you want your child to be able to charge items to your account without an adult present, they must have a key tag. A child can pay cash anytime without an adult present. However if they want to charge items to an account, they must either have a key tag with the family’s last name and account number on it or have an adult present with them. We hope this important change will help avoid some of the issues we faced last summer.
Morning Lap Swim
Lap swim is available for adults in the mornings all summer long. If you are interested in signing up for morning lap swim, please visit THIS LINK . Morning Lap Swim Hours and policies are available on the website. https://peacehavenpool.com/about/pool-rules/#tab-id-3
Pool & Facility Rules
Our pool community just spent a lot of effort and money upgrading our facilities over the past two off-seasons. As a non-profit and pool community of volunteers, it is up to us to take care of everything. This starts with us each having a conversation with our children to review pool rules and the importance of working together to take care of our facilities.
Because we have so many members, we must ensure everyone knows and respects all facility rules so that every member can have a fun and safe summer. Please review our rules posted on the website (https://peacehavenpool.com/about/pool-rules/).
The board did consider raising the age that allows children to attend the pool without an adult but we decided since we are managing our guards this summer that we would leave things as is for the time being. That being said, we ask that each of you have an intentional conversation with your children on proper behavior if they are there without an adult. Please review pool rules and remind them of things such as volume level, being mindful of younger children and other pool members in the pool, absolutely NOT attempting to charge items to another member’s account, listening to the direction of guards, and cleaning up after themselves, etc.
It is imperative to us that the pool and facilities are safe and comfortable for ALL members. The board has all agreed that we plan to address any concerns immediately with parents this summer. If behaviors continue after they have been addressed, children may lose the ability to attend the pool without an adult.
Social Events
This summer we have plans for fun social events on Memorial day, 4th of July, and Labor day. We are also looking into adding in several new events, like an Ice Cream Social with Movie Night, and a Pickleball Tournament! There is still time to register for the Memorial Day Cook Out! (deadline is Friday 5/24) Click HERE to RSVP.
Swim Team
The Swim Team is in full swing with over 175 swimmers, including 42 Dolphin School participants! Our home meet dates are: June 4, June 11, and June 18. Friendly Reminder that the pool closes at 3:30 on Home Swim Meet Days but, you are definitely welcome to still stop by and cheer on our team!
Sponsorships
The pool is fortunate to have many sponsors again this year. These businesses are friends of the community and their partnership is a real blessing. Please take a moment to look for their banners around the pool or on the swim team shirts. And watch our Facebook page for periodic shout-outs! https://www.facebook.com/PeaceHavenPool
A Few Membership Spots Available!
We are fortunate to have so many members in the Association. Per the by-laws, we are limited to 300 families, and we are nearly full. If you have any friends still looking for a summer membership, they can contact us on the website to get added. But hurry, because the availability likely won’t last long,
A Big Thank You!!
Lastly, if you see any Board members around, please thank them. They always volunteer many hours throughout the year, but they have gone above the call of duty during this off-season to make sure the improvements, interviews, hiring, maintenance, and all of the many changes we have made stayed on track to ensure things were ready for the new pool season. PHCA is very fortunate to currently have a full board who all care deeply about making this association the best that it can be!
Please feel free to contact me or any of the board members with questions. I look forward to seeing you this summer!
